BLACK Action Fund (AF) organizes around issues and elections to build Black political power. We are building power to win elections up and down the ballot across Kentucky and we are committed to leveraging our electoral wins into local and state policy and budget wins for our people in 2024 and beyond. Through the Campaigns program, BLACK also offers 2 different leadership development opportunities: The Care Campaign Fellowship and the Political Power Network Fellowship.

At BLACK, we are committed to registering voters. We offer tools and resources to support voters in feeling confident and informed at the polls and we organize to protect the right to vote through election protection. 

BLACK also offers political education through the Campaigns program. BLACK's political education cirriculum offers skills, tools, support, and practice to examine and question how the world works in order to disrupt and dismantle oppressive systems of power and transform and realign future systems and structures.

Throughout the curriculum, participants will learn about and discuss various possibilities for change that currently exist in our political reality and share their visions for what it could look like to go beyond what is currently possible.  

Voting, alone, has not and will not save us. And yet, the individuals who win on election day will have considerable influence on the lives of Black people across the state of Kentucky. 

BLACK believes in representative and collective decision-making. We are working to build a healthy democracy in Kentucky through voter education, voter mobilization, and election protection. 

Grassroots Organizing Leadership Development (GOLD) is an emerging Kentucky community organizing fellowship for Black and BIPOC Kentuckians to build skills that support people learning the necessary values, concepts, history, and practices to directly engage their neighbors in ways that encourage participation in improving community conditions and social issues.

While many resources across Kentucky prioritize lobbying, litigation, and policy creation, we continue to lose on our issues without an investment into an organized base of Kentuckians who can learn about the issues and collaborate with each other to create change in order to build a healthy and safe movement ecosystem rooted in relationship building.

BLACK believes in providing opportunities for our base, members, and fellows to experience rest, care, joy, and healing. We also value belonging and collectivism. The Membership and Community Care program is how we embodies these belief and values.
